How is it this album dropped in March and I never heard about it? I guess one can be into a niche and forget that… it being a niche… things can happen and go unnoticed.
First single: Mixed up S.O.B. directed by non-other than my good friend Al. (The Weird one.)
If you like this, and haven’t noticed PUSA since their first album (think Lump and Peaches), you might get a kick out of the video for Some Postman. Shot entirely on cell phone cameras.
Here’s an interesting note: when I tried to go to their official site: Google warned me that the site was unsafe. Unsafe? Thanks Googe, so why are you promoting it as the first hit? I went through anyways (my Mac laughs in the face of this kind of danger.) Interestingly enough, Firefox also blocked me from going there. The site is www.presidentsrock.com. I don’t recommend going there, especially if you are using IE 6.
With much further digging, I found another site: pusa2008.org/ which looks significantly more legit. I wonder what the story is. If presidentsrock was hijacked, or if it was just a clever trap (with considerably more Google-juice than the official site). Both Wikipedia and the Facebook official fan group link to the bogus site.
Once at the real site, one finds an agonizing auto-play video to vote for your President of the President’s of the United States of America. I love what they are doing here. I find it quite charming, it’s unfortunate they haven’t gotten their streaming sorted out. I had to pause and wait for the buffer to load to watch it properly. Come on people, it’s 2008. Use Youtube if you can’t handle the bandwidth. I’ll vote for the new guy. He has the best line about how they haven’t had a hit in 15 years. Or I would, if the site didn’t cack when I got to the voting page. Again people, it’s 2008.
The new album is called These Are the Good Times People and was in stores a long time ago. I dig it. And it’s not just the neo-citran talking. (How does one get so sick in September? Sheesh.)
I will be in Toronto Tuesday - Thursday afternoon, then Orillia until Sunday. Let’s eat.
