Labeling Thoughts in Boxes

I have cleaned up Joel Corriveau.com and will begin to post there regularly. I will keep writing here as more of a journal targeted at family and friends who want to know what I’m up to. (And mostly a legacy for the little ones yet to come, of course.) I haven’t decided where my music belongs. I’m still sorting out the differences between personal/professional published spaces. I know it’s all public. But I’d like to think that I can use a different tone of voice in different contexts. I need to decide which context best serves my music.

The idea for Joel Corriveau . com is: “Survival Mechaics for the New Artist.” I’ll admit that I am my target demographic. I want write articles about my experiences with the school - real world transition, as well as artists or hobbyists of any age who are looking to begin working in a new medium. The RSS feed is here. I’m testing out FeedBurner. I’ve heard some mixed reactions, but I would like first hand experience.

The biggest Feedburner complaint I had heard was about locking yourself into a dependency on a third party. I see the problem in this, but since hearing the argument, Google has swooped in and bought FeedBurner. I trust my Google for my mail, so for now, I don’t see the difference. The benefit of Feedburner is detailed statistics. I hope this isn’t a decision I’ll regret. (But judging from the number of probloggers who rely on it… it should be okay.)
